Pass the Torch for Ty Returns 2026: UK Hip-Hop Unites for Brixton Soup Kitchen

The UK hip-hop community is coming together once again for Pass the Torch for Ty, a special fundraising concert celebrating the life and legacy of the legendary Ben “Ty” Chijioke — with all proceeds going to Brixton Soup Kitchen.

On Thursday 20th August, music, community and culture will come together at Arch 555, Valentia Place, London, SW9 8PJ, from 7pm to 11pm, for the sixth anniversary of this special fundraiser.

Entry is a £10 charity donation, with every penny raised from the event going towards Brixton Soup Kitchen — an organisation making a genuine difference to people experiencing hardship in Brixton and beyond.

And this isn't the first time the UK hip-hop community has shown up.

At the previous Pass the Torch for Ty event, the community came together to raise and donate an incredible £4,000 to Brixton Soup Kitchen. This year, the aim is to build on that achievement and make an even greater impact.

More Than Music

For me, the connection to Brixton Soup Kitchen goes far beyond simply organising a fundraiser.

I recently volunteered my own time at the kitchen, going there to work and experience the organisation's efforts first-hand.

What i witnessed left a lasting impression.

Rather than simply seeing a service providing food, i saw a community built around dignity, compassion and people looking out for one another. I saw individuals who, despite having very little themselves, were conscious of others and took only what they needed.

It was a reminder that community isn't always measured by how much money people have. Sometimes it's measured by how willing people are to share what little they do have.

That experience reinforced why supporting Brixton Soup Kitchen matters.

And support doesn't have to mean writing a CHEQUE. The kitchen also accepts food and clothing donations, meaning there are many ways for people to contribute and make a difference.

The UK Hip-Hop Community Shows Up

One of the most powerful things about Pass the Torch for Ty has always been the response from the UK hip-hop community.

Artists, DJs, hosts, musicians, fans and supporters continue to come together year after year — not simply for a night of music, but for a cause that affects people within our own communities.

This year's event features live performances from Smooflow, Jaz Kahina, Teach, Frshrz, Tinala, Ellisse, Onlyoneonlyson and Essa, with Peaches hosting.

Music will also come from Nikki Stylus and DJ Snuff.

It's a line-up that represents the creativity and diversity of the UK scene, while keeping the focus firmly on community.

Carrying the Torch Forward

Pass the Torch for Ty is ultimately about legacy.

It's about remembering Ty, celebrating what he represented, and continuing to use music and culture as a force for positive change.

For Femi, volunteering at Brixton Soup Kitchen made that message even more real. Going there expecting to give his time, he came away feeling that he had received something too — perspective, humility and a renewed understanding of the importance of community.

Now, the mission continues.

The last event raised £4,000 for Brixton Soup Kitchen. This year, the UK hip-hop community has another opportunity to come together, enjoy incredible live music and help an organisation doing vital work on the ground.

Because Pass the Torch for Ty isn't just about putting on a concert.

It's about showing up. It's about giving back. It's about community.

And once again, the UK hip-hop community is being called upon to do what it does best — come together, support one another and make a real difference.
